divorce

One particular situation that changed my life was when my parents got a divorce when I was eight years old. It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to go through. My father moved into an apartment complex down the street from where I lived. My mother and I continued living in my home. My mom put me through divorce counseling three times a week and she would attend one session a week with me.
When I was nine and a half, my father remarried to a woman by the name of Karen. I was devastated only because I wanted for my original family to be back together again. I grew to accept Karen and my father’s marriage.
Almost a year later my father and stepmother moved away from Charleston, SC. They found a new home in Greenville, SC where Karen’s new job resided. As much as I loved Greenville I wanted so badly for my dad to come back home to Charleston, where I was. He had to stay, of course but I made a point to visiim every other weekend and every other holiday. You could say I still saw him quite frequently.
These situations made me a stronger person and motivated me to stay close with my family, even with distance in the way. My priorities and values changed. All of this had made me realize not to take things in life for granted. All of these situations have made me a better person.
